Kala Sanghian drain cleaning work begins

Environmentalist Balbir Singh Seechewal and his volunteers initiated the cleanliness work of the Kala Sanghian drain here today.Terming it to be a big challenge, he got his own JCB machines and began the clogging and sullage cleared from the drain. Local population from Aman Nagar and Rattan Nagar localities in the Municipal Corporation area too got motivated and came out to support the action.A few days ago, the environmentalist had taken along a media team and shown the points where the untreated waste from tanneries was entering the drain. After his visit, the civic body Commissioner GS Khehra too had visited the spot and was shown that the amount of untreated sewer waste going into the drain was much more owing to the less capacity of the Municipal Corporation’s treatment plant in the Basti Peer Daad area.
